Alianza College Achievement Program (Alianza CAP)
Alianza is currently working on the creation, development and future implementation of Alianza
CAP (Alianza College Achievement Program). In our efforts to support the potential and bring to
fruition the dreams of many DREAMers, we are dedicating our attention, time, and energy to
Alianza CAP to achieve a higher academic completion rate among our undocumented youth.
Support and involvement from school districts and high school administrators will facilitate the
success of this program.
Alianza CAP is college preparation program that will provide support to high school students to
complete their high school diploma, apply and be admitted to college, and stay in college. The
program will utilize a “helicopter” method. That is, students will be selected during their junior
year; we will follow and guide the students through their high school senior year; and we will
monitor the students’ personal and academic development through the first two years of college.
Throughout these 3+ years, students will be given academic counseling, academic and
professional mentorship (from peer-mentors and professional mentors), workshops and
networking opportunities, and scholarships to help support them during their first two years of
college.
Alianza is looking for 20 students to make up each cohort every year. Our target group is
undocumented students who face huge limitations and deprivations due to demographic
characteristics. During our application process, every individual will receive full consideration.
However, we strongly encourage the following groups to apply: female students, LGBTQIA
members, individuals in low-income households, and students who have been affected by legal
and/or health issues. The total numbers of admitted students to Alianza CAP each year will
depend on financial resources available. A more detailed description will be available in the near
future.
A grant proposal for this project has been submitted and is under review. Program
implementation will begin upon approval and allocation of funds.
